The event is the second meeting in a pre project on Global City Innovation initiated by the Growth Forum under the strategy for economic and societal development of the Central Denmark Region, and AU Smart Cities is looking forward to participate in the pre project.

Growth Forum, Central Denmark Region, is a strong partnership between the regional council, municipalities, trade organisations, education and research institutions such as Aarhus University.

The purpose and perspective of the pre project is to identify potentials for businesses and point to the challenges and obstacles of future work in city innovation, and suggest initiatives that can overcome these challenges.

At the same time the pre project focuses on the efforts of the global urban market to meet the challenges of urbanisation such as out-dated digital and geographical infrastructures, climate change, housing problems and demographical challenges.

The rapid urban development confronts the need to rethink the process of urbanisation and the City Innovation project stresses the issue by investigating the possibility of developing sustainable, creative and smart city solutions in Denmark.
