Co-hosts of the stand are OrganiCity, a project aimed at co-creation of smart cities by making experimentation easy, and Select for Cities, a project that enables pre-commercial procurement, i.e. the procurement of research and development of new innovative solutions before they are commercially available.

The overall topic of the Net Futures conference 2016 is “Driving growth in the Digital Single Market”. Speakers include Andrus Ansip, vice-president of the European Commission, and Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Digital Economy & Society. According to the organizers, the aim is to “maximize the competitiveness of the European technology industry” by bringing together representatives of organizations, institutions, and companies.

Parallel sessions about standards and interoperability, data economy and democratizing the Internet invite the 1,000 expected participants to discuss important issues of the digital economy that the Digital Single Market strategy of the European Commission are facing at the moment. Martin Brynskov from AU Smart Cities, Chair of Open & Agile Smart Cities, is also on the list of speakers as part of the workshop Boosting Entrepreneurship through R&I.
