AU Smart Cities was with municipalities and companies from across the country gathered January 28, 2016 in Copenhagen for the conference Smart City organized by NRGi and Gate 21. The biggest call-outs of the conference were that smart cities, first and foremost, are about people - not statistics and apps - and that a vast and focused effort is needed in order to keep Denmark making its mark internationally.

In his talk at the conference, the Danish Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen (V) proclaimed that Denmark should aspire to take a leading position at doing smart cities in order to stimulate exports and create jobs. In doing so, he will attempt to create a national smart city strategy and invite the other ministries to attend in the process.
